Baguettes, buns, croissants, and cakes – we haven’t tasted a baked good we don’t love. As such, going to a bakery for fresh pastries and dessert shops is always something to look forward to – especially when it’s completely free to look at a bakery’s display case for hours, like a cat watching a fish swimming in a tank.
Fortunately, Mississauga is blessed with bakeries offering hundreds of styles. From Asian patisseries to luscious gluten-free pies, and sourdough specialties, the city is truly a pot of god. Hence, narrowing down the best bakeries is a serious business. However, we have accepted the challenge and eaten our way to give you Sauga’s yeasty royalty.
Whether you’re a pastry enthusiast or simply looking for a place to get a solid loaf, here are the best bakeries in Mississauga.

1. Lazar Bakery
Address: 325 Central Pkwy W Unit 12, Mississauga, ON L5B 3X9
Website: https://www.lazarbakery.ca/
Lazar Bakery is committed to serving Italian and Portuguese pastries and bread; they make sure that everything is fresh and handmade with ingredients sourced from various countries. They sell hundreds of baked goodies, but you won’t find a single thing that is not technically flawless. So, if you’re O.C. (obsessive-compulsive) to pastries, this place will not disappoint.
Lazar has a rotating menu of croissants, custard tarts, cupcakes, cakes, cannoli, and more. Everything here (even coffee!) is mind-blowing, but their tarts truly stand out for us. The downside with ordering tarts, though, is that some flavours are out of stock, and the prices are not indicated on the menu.
2. Truscott Italian Bakery
Address: 2425 Truscott Dr Unit 8, Mississauga, ON L5J 2B4
Website: https://truscottbakery.com/
Truscott is oh so Italian, not because of the variety of cheesy bread, but because the bakery itself is aesthetically pleasing inside and out with pastries sitting on shelves while ones inside the glass cases look as if they are million-dollar diamonds. Indeed, everything on the menu is precious, which is evident in their prices, especially the imported stuff.
If you’re looking for a snack, they offer an assortment of bagels, croissants, buns, cakes, and sourdough bread loaves (on weekends only). There are a lot of delicious goodies to mention, but try any of them, and you will be compelled to come back here at least once a week.
Many customers stop by here to buy specialties as gifts for foodies. So when you drop by this bakery, make sure to pick out a box of treats for family or friends to leave any past transgressions behind. *wink*
3. Nova Pastry & Bakery

Address: 3635 Cawthra Rd, Mississauga, ON L5A 2Y5
Website: http://novabakery.ca/
If you’ve been traumatized by flavourless tarts (pastéis de nata) or any Portuguese treats before, try the ones at Nova Pastry & Bakery to rewire your brain. Stay calm when the line of customers is overwhelming, though – this bakery is genuinely efficient.
To ensure you don’t miss out on any deliciousness, it’s always a good idea to snag more savoury treats than you think you’ll need – particularly if they’re warm and fresh in the morning! You will surely munch one (or even three) on the way out or before you ascend to a higher plane of existence (don’t be ashamed, we did it too).
4. La Casa Dolce
Address: 755 Queensway St. E, Unit 101, 755 Queensway E Unit 101, Mississauga, ON L4Y 4C5
Website: https://lacasadolce.ca/
Think of the delicious treats at La Casa Dolce, like Taylor Swift’s hard-to-get concert tickets. Before you overthink if it’s worth the hype, you better get one before they’re sold out. Established in 2008, this brightly lit sibling-owned bakeshop has humble beginnings, which makes them very inspiring.
La Casa Dolce started at a 700 sq. metre basement of the 3-brothers parents’ home catering custom cakes for their friends – then now operating at a 5,000 sq. metre facility on Queensway Street E.
They offer a variety of sweet treats like cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and the like, but their cakes are their strongest suits. After all, their custom cakes are behind their massive success.
5. French Corner Bakery & Patisserie

Address: 1224 Dundas St W #114, Mississauga, ON L5C 4G7
Website: Not available
Try to Google the best bakery in Mississauga, and the internet will lead you to French Corner Bakery & Patisserie. Well, thanks to customers’ good reviews for making this establishment famous. As their moniker suggests, this bakery offers French-baked goodies but also provides more Danish goods than an Ikea showroom.
You’ve probably seen their delicious, stunning chocolate croissant on social media, and it’s undoubtedly a must-try. But we are also obsessed with their extra sweet sticky bun, a sweet lover’s dream. The bread of the week should not be skipped here, either.
6. Baklawa King
Address: 488 Eglinton Ave W, Mississauga, ON L5R 0G2 (+more locations)
Website: https://baklawaking.com/
Baklawa is not joking with their tagline, “A royal experience to share with family & friends.” Between the symmetrical rows of crunchy Baklava, Maamoul with pistachio, and cheese Halawa, browsing through their assortment of treats is like walking through a red carpet to heaven. If heaven was filled with heavenly desserts, that is.
This fine Middle Eastern bakeshop churns out beautiful interiors and picture-perfect pastries on a daily basis. Yes, you read it right. There are no off days here, and they are open every day from 9 am to 10 pm (8 pm on Sunday). Every item looks delicious, like a well-curated Pinterest mood board.
Best Tip: If you want to look fancy, even if you only have $5 in your wallet, order some coconut macarons and a cup of coffee to feel like royalty.
7. Lazio Italian Bakery
Address: 4646 Heritage Hills Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5R 1Y3
Website: http://lazioitalianbakery.com/
Even on a random weekday, rain or shine, you’re likely to find a line of customers at Lazio Italian Bakery. But don’t be discouraged, the line isn’t too overwhelming and the wait is well worth it. With patience, you will be treated to a treasure trove of Italian-style cannoli, assorted macaroons, cakes, and more.
Their tiramisu cake is airy and light, and their Ricotta cannoli chocolate chip is something we wish every chocolate cannoli would taste like. The ambiance here is warm, neighbourhood-ly (you will surely see a young family that will trigger your baby fever), and is precisely the kind of bakeshop you should visit after being cooped up in your office or apartment.
8. La Novita Bakery
Address: 25 John St, Mississauga, ON L5A 1Y5
Website: http://lanovitabakery.ca/
Want a showstopper for any special occasion? On the go for custom cakes, La Novita Bakery is caked (pun intended) with experience in making artsy cakes out of flour, eggs, butter, and sugar. Their cakes are insanely detailed and well decorated, showing their expertise in making the “Best Custom Cakes in Mississauga,” as they claim to be.
The caramel cheesecake at this bakery has garnered quite a reputation among its loyal customers. Its delectable combination of sugar and cheese is so irresistible that people keep coming back for more. Locals can’t get enough of it, and it’s easy to see why – one bite and you’re hooked! If you’re not into cakes, they also offer plenty of desserts, sandwiches, custard, and much more.
La Novita Bakery has a separate section for each delicacy. If you want some croissants and a cup of joe, feel free to line up in their croissant and espresso bar sections, respectively.
9. Papa John’s Bakery
Address: 223 Ceremonial Dr #11-12, Mississauga, ON L5R 2N3
Website: https://papa-johns-bakery.business.site/
If you have a fatherly name, you must have a reliable store and, most importantly, ever-more reliable treats. Well, we are right in including Papa John’s Bakery in our list –
they are one of the most reliable H.K. bakeries in the Sauga area, ready to serve you as early as 8 am.
The massive selection of buns (curry beef, pineapple, coconut crème, etc.) is the star of the show. Their buns are affordable, enormous, as fluffy as a pillow, and best paired with their own HK-style milk tea. But no matter what you choose to order, don’t forget to grab some coffee or tea; they go perfectly with any bread.
10. Cordi Italian Bakery
Address: 1891 Rathburn Rd E, Mississauga, ON L4W 3Z3
Website: Not available
Cordi Italian Bakery may be a hole-in-the-wall, but it’s the total opposite of what they offer here. Nestled in Rockwood Village, this hidden gem offers pastries and bread that are affordable and quite large – but not so large that you feel like you’re holding a baseball bat as you pick one up.
This Italian family-run bakery provides locals with all the endearing charm of a rustic and authentic Italian patisserie/boulangerie without ripping your wallet for a trip on the Trenitalia. They have been around for over 40 years, so their reputation is something we should not question.
Local workers come here for their daily cinnamon buns in the morning and satisfying savoury pizza during lunchtime. More cafés are also located nearby, so watch out for this space.
