Oh, the Kit Kat McFlurry… It’s a thing of beauty, really. A fluffy mound of vanilla soft serve swirled together with chocolate fudge and little pieces of crunchy Kit Kat. It’s the perfect fast food dessert.
If you’re asking me which one is better, the Oreo or KitKat McFlurry?
Hmm, I don’t know. It’s hard to choose because they’re both so good. But if I had to pick one right now, I think I would go with the Kit Kat McFlurry (only because it seems more limited than the popular Oreo McFlurry).
Rui, on the hand, can’t seem to make up his mind. He’s been going back and forth between the two for days now. Personally, I think he just likes to torture himself with indecision because he knows that both desserts are delicious.
So, if you’re ever at McDonald’s and can’t decide between the Oreo or Kit Kat McFlurry, get both! But, today, we’re going to try the KitKat and let you know how it tastes.
KitKat McFlurry Review
The KitKat McFlurry is exactly what you would expect it to be – a lovely combination of McDonald’s vanilla ice cream with fudge and KitKat bits. When it was first released this summer, we were excited to try it without the fudge. That was on me because I don’t like fudge, caramel, or any of that sort of sticky sauce due to its mountain of sweetness.
Here’s how our KitKat McFlurry looked without the fudge:
I personally liked it without the fudge because you’ll get more smoothness from the ice cream and crunch from the KitKat.
Since we enjoyed this ice cream, we came back to order one in its original form with the fudge. Plus, I told him I’ll write about this on our blog here, so we may as well give you our thoughts on their original recipe.
I actually thought the fudge made the ice cream way too sweet as anticipated!
In fact, there seemed to be less KitKat compared to the first time when we asked for no fudge, which really defeats the purpose of calling this a KitKat McFlurry. I really dislike fudge, so I let Rui finish the rest. He didn’t love the fudge but didn’t mind it. He was just disappointed that it came with more fudge but fewer (almost no) KitKat bits.
But, if you love chocolate and fudge, then go ahead and add it in! It’s your McFlurry after all.
We would order this again, but probably without the fudge next time.
KitKat McFlurry Price
Overall, the KitKat McFlurry is a tasty and budget-friendly dessert. As you can see, it only cost us $4.49 (before tax) and $5.07 (after tax) for the regular size.
If you share it, that’s about $2.50 per person, which is considered cheap compared to the $14 premium Lindt ice cream and Kitaya matcha soft serve we had. You can see that McDonald’s cheap ice cream can’t compare to these best gelatos and other top ice cream shops.
What size does the KitKat McFlurry come in?
The McFlurry comes in two sizes – regular and snack sizes.
Because ice cream, or any type of dessert, is like crack, you can easily finish a regular size all by yourself without even realizing it. It’s no different from mindlessly licking away at a pint of your favorite ice cream or creamy gelato in front of the TV. So, if you’re trying to be good, get a small size instead.
To limit ourselves from over-consuming excess sugar, Rui and I usually share a regular size which is more than enough to satisfy our sweet tooth.
I remember the good old days when we used to indulge in the regular size all by ourselves, but we look back and think how crazy we are for doing that.
How many calories are in a McDonald’s KitKat McFlurry?
The KitKat McFlurry snack size has 490 calories, 17g of fat, 75g of carbohydrates, and 9g of protein. The scariest part is this snack size has 63g of sugar!
The KitKat McFlurry regular size has 670 calories, 23 g of fat, 103g of carbohydrates, and 13g of protein. And wow, it has 86g of sugar!
This source is according to McDonald’s.
What is the most popular McFlurry flavour?
The most popular McFlurry flavour is Oreo, according to a McDonald’s spokesperson. It’s not hard to see why because Oreo is a classic cookie that everyone loves.
Other popular flavours include M&M’s, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Flake, KitKat, and Smarties.
Does KitKat McFlurry have nuts?
No, the KitKat McFlurry does not have nuts. And if you’re wondering, the KitKat bar itself is also nut-free. So, if you have a nut allergy, you can enjoy this McFlurry without worry.
That was our honest and nonbiased thoughts on the KitKat McFlurry!
The KitKat McFlurry is available for a limited time only (I believe), so hurry and try it before it’s gone! Let us know what you think in the comments below.
