Sea Witch Fish and Chips feature 5 types of fish on their menu, which includes the usual cod, haddock, and halibut, but there’s also pickerel and trout.
There are a couple of options that you can get your fish with — the fish by itself, fish and chips, 2 pieces of fish with chips, and a fish sandwich with the option of chips.
The fish comes out fresh with a crispy batter and a nice golden colour, with the meat being deliciously tender and flaky. You get a nice crunch with every bite before the meat softly melts in your mouth. Squeeze some lemon on it and dip it in their house-made tartar sauce – perfection!
If you’re a sandwich kind of person, then you should seriously go for their Pickerel sandwich. It’s topped with sweet-tangy pickled onions and tartar sauce which pairs so well with the fried fish, creating a scrumptious experience.
This might just rival some of the top sandwiches in Toronto.
The chips here are awesome. They are thick cuts with the skin on that are nice and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside.

You can find Fresco’s Fish & Chips in the popular vibrant neighbourhood of Kensington Market. They offer some of the best fish and chips in downtown Toronto!
They batter their fish the old-fashioned way using a light batter that consists of yellow corn flour and wheat flour. By doing this, the fish will not be dominated by the batter, making it light and crispy.
What’s nice about Fresco’s is that they use sustainable seafood products from organizations like Ocean Wise, and other Marine Stewardship Council sustainable-certified sources.
Their fish and chips are no doubt delicious, but their Quebec-style poutine is just dynamite! It is highly raved by many online reviewers, and people just love, love, LOVE it!
Fresco’s also has some great vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. You can get their vegan poutine that has vegan mushroom gravy and daiya — a dairy alternative — which replaces traditional cheese. You can also get vegan chilli as well!
You should definitely stop by whenever you’re in the neighbourhood. You’ll be happy you did.

Located in the Mimico area, this west end staple has been proudly serving tasty fish and chips for almost 50 years.
New Toronto honestly has one of Etobicoke’s best fish and chips, and should definitely be on your radar.
The place is retro-styled — some may call it old-looking — no-frills restaurant. It made us wonder if the interior ever changed. From the outside, the place is easily recognizable with its big brown box storefront.
You will not find an extensive selection at first glance of their menu, but what they have to offer is enough to entice people to go back for more. It features halibut, haddock, cod, shrimps, and scallops.
Their seafood is freshly battered and fried in front of you from their open kitchen in the front of the shop. The fish comes out nice and golden with a crunchy outer layer, served with a side of fresh-cut chips and coleslaw.
We recommend getting a side of gravy to accompany your chips/fries to add an extra punch of deep flavour. Also, don’t forget to treat yourself to their deliciously battered onions rings. You’ll easily eat it again and again!
Lastly, the price here is incredibly reasonable compared to other fish and chip joints. Tell us where else you can get a haddock or codfish and chip meal for only $7.95 in Toronto that tastes just as good.
