6. Piccolina Gelato
Source: Yelp
Head on over to Piccolina and try one of their specially handmade Italian gelatos on a cone. They also offer soft-serve if you’re a fan of soft-serve ice cream.
Here is what one detailed Yelp reviewer had to say about this gelato place:
“I’m not a gelato connoisseur but this is probably the best gelato I’ve had in Toronto as of yet. Their flavours pack a punch and their portions are relatively generous. Gelato from Piccolina is definitely a must have on a hot summer day walking through King West.
Overall I tried the Limone, Dulce De Leche, Strachiatella and Pistachio. The Limone is perfect for people who love that sour flavour. It was not too lemony but it was very tart, but not so much as to make your lips pucker.
The Dulce De Leche had a light caramel flavour, and it was not too overwhelming or sweet, which was very nice.
The Strachiatella was probably my least favourite, but by no fault of Piccolina. It was very creamy and rich and had chocolate pieces throughout the gelato, but a bit lacking in depth for my desires.
In contrast the Pistachio was easily the best flavour I tried. It had a subtle nutty tone in the beginning, a creamy mid-note and the end note packed a very nutty pistachio flavour (as if you had just finished eating a pistachio yourself, but with more cream!). It was very complex and they perfectly replicated a pistachio is a creamy and cold format and it was an absolute delight.”

This is one of our favorite go-to gelato joints because they offer more than just gelato. They serve croissants, pies, and savoury crepes. They also serve cold and hot drinks if you’re up for that too.
What a nice treat to have during the warm weather, even in the wintertime, after walking around the shops at Don Mills.
