1. The Burgernator
Address: 269 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 2M1
Phone: 647-748-0990
Looking for a burger joint that uses Halal ingredients, then The Burgernator is the place for you. Located in the heart of Kensington Market is where you can find this lovely restaurant.
Their menu has a wide selection of burgers for you to choose from and if you’re looking for a non-beef option, then you’ll be happy to know that they also offer a couple of vegetarian burgers as well.
Not only is The Burgernator the name of their restaurant, it’s also the name of their signature burger. With three beef patties and grilled cheese in between, top it off with caramelized onions and sautéed mushroom all fused together with their in-house sauce, it’s the formula for one heavenly burger.
Another burger to try is their Atomic Burger. The burger patty was tender and juicy – you could see the juice oozing out with each bite, and the sun-dried tomato aioli sauce was absolutely amazing that it made finger licking good.
We must say, the burgers here are so fresh and delicious they definitely live up to their mission statement – “Ridding the city of half-hearted and overcooked burgers with processed cheese and questionable toppings.”
The Burgernator hasn’t seen the last of us – we’ll be back, as there are so many more burgers to try!
2. The Real McCoy
Address: 1033 Markham Road, Scarborough, Ontario M1H 2G1
Phone: 416-439-6804
Serving the Scarborough area for more than 50 years, The Real McCoy burger restaurant is located in a small plaza near the Markham Rd and Ellesmere intersection. If you’re driving by the area, it could easily be missed by many given where it’s located.
Their burgers are always made fresh and made to order at affordable prices. If you’re driving in to pick up the food, it’s best to call them ahead of time to place your order – as it takes roughly 15 minutes for the food to be ready.
The 8oz MOJO Burger, or their bigger brother Double MOJO Burger, is the best choice here.
We have been here a few times and we have always ordered the Double MOJO Burger with our usual condiments and not once did they disappoint.
Not only were the burgers huge, but it was also oozing with juice and it packed so much flavour when we took our first bite.
It was definitely satisfying!
3. Rudy
Address: 168 Eglinton Ave E, Toronto, ON M4P 1A6 / Multiple Locations
Phone: 416-519-6967
Rudy is another establishment that serves tasty burgers.
Don’t expect looking for a large selection of choices here – their menu only consist of three burger options and one of them is chicken.
However, as mentioned before, Rudy’s burgers are so good that you can’t go wrong with any of then. Not only their burgers, but their poutine is an excellent choice too.
Looking at the burger you may think it’s just like any other burger, but it’s when you take that first bite you see why it stands out from their competitions. Their Rudy in-house special sauce definitely gives it a unique and distinct flavour to their burgers.
You should note however, that their Valentino burger DOES NOT come with their Rudy sauce. When placing your order, you may want to let them know in advance to add the Rudy sauce to your chicken burger.
If you’re in town and in the mood for burgers, you’ll definitely want to hit them up!
What’s the one best food to pair with burgers? That’ll be chicken wings – it’s the perfect combination. If you went to the Rudy restaurant on College St between Bathurst and Ossington then you may also want to drop by Duff’s to pick up some scrumptious wings.
4. The Burger Priest
Address: 1636 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4L 1G3 / Multiple Locations
Phone: 647-346-0617
Just like in their name, this burger restaurant was founded by a priest back in June 2010.
Since then, they have expanded and opened many locations throughout Toronto in hopes to redeem the burger one at a time.
But the location we normally frequent is the one located around Queen St. E and Coxwell Ave.
With so many options available, including chicken and vegan burgers, one of the must-try burgers is The Priest. The portobello mushroom and cheeseburger is like a divine combination of meat and vegetable elements colliding together to create this heavenly burger.
Whether you go for their classic hamburger or something more juicy and interesting like the Vatican City, we guarantee you’ll enjoy every bite despite what burger you order.
We even wrote a Burger Priest Toronto review to give you our honest thoughts about the patty they use in their delicious mouth-watering burgers!
However, Burger Priest has not seen the last of us, we will be going back to try some of their burgers under the secret menu!
5. Burger Drops
Address: 116 Atlantic Ave, Toronto, ON M6K 1X9
Phone: 647-494-1588
A small restaurant in a remote area that makes one of the best smash burgers in Toronto. Burger Drops can easily be missed if you’re not attentive to the surrounding area when driving or walking by.
But for those that notice Burger Drops and venture into their restaurant, you’ll be glad that you did.
They don’t have an expansive menu, but who needs one when it comes to burgers – the main importance is that it needs to taste good, and that is where Burger Drops doesn’t fall short.
Their smash burgers are so tender and delicious, they just melt in your mouth.
Paired with their in-house signature sauce, each bite is bursting with flavour leaving you wanting for more. If I had to describe this place with three words, it’ll be: heavy, cheesy, and super flavourful – okay, that was four…
Their burgers are reasonably priced and they provide fast service. If you really want to satisfy your hunger, go for the double.
6. The Comrade
Address: 758 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4M 1H4
Phone: 416-778-9449
Lovely ambiance that is dimly lit at night. The taxidermy decorations, bookshelves, rustic wooden seating also gave it a nice touch to the overall aesthetics of the restaurant.
They also serve alcoholic drinks. So, if you’re looking to hang out with a group of friends or on a date, The Comrade is a perfectly good option.
Their staff are super friendly and the service was good! It definitely added to the overall experience of our stay.
The Prime Rib Burgers was definitely the main attraction that night – it was really good. The tender meat and the extra pickles (I love pickles) made it so lovable.
My only complaint, why is this restaurant on opened from Wednesday to Saturday?! It’s a shame we cannot enjoy this restaurant more often throughout the week.
Have room to eat more? When it comes to sweets, I believe the consensus is always yes. Since you’re already close to downtown Toronto, why not check out some of the best gelato and desserts places the city has to offer.
7. Happy Burger
Address: 76 Lippincott St, Toronto, ON M5S 2P1
Phone: 647-352-7777
I can see why they called this place Happy Burger – having one of their burgers can enlighten your day.
The combination of their secret happy sauce and the fresh grounded beef that is seasoned with just salt and pepper makes it a winning success.
For those that want to cut down on red meat, you’ll be happy to know that there’s also a chicken and vegetarian option. And best of all, the chicken is Halal!
But for us, we’ll stick to their cheeseburger as it definitely hit that burger spot in us.
A small burger restaurant that is clean with friendly service, what more can you ask for.
Oh, I know!
What if you’re looking for a late-night burger fix? Well, you’ll be happy to know this place got you covered. Unlike many burger joints, this restaurant is opened until 1 AM.
8. Holy Chuck
Address: 4421 Hwy 7, Woodbridge, ON L4L 5W6
Phone: 905-851-6363
To keep it PG friendly, Holy Chuck indeed!
The size of Chuck’s burgers is just crazy. Not only their burgers but also their poutine – and it can be classified as one of the best poutine as well. The portion they serve for one can be shared between two people.
For example, if you go for their Uncle Georgie Porgy burger, you’re looking at 3 beef patties of pure awesomeness. If there’s a burger heaven, this could be it.
The burgers are juicy with mouthwatering flavour it’s almost impossible to not get any of the dripping juice on your hands. Good thing it’s finger-licking good.
Compared to other burger places, their burgers are a little bit more expensive but still reasonably priced and there’s some priced in the higher range for the more exotic options. The staff is also friendly and the service was delightful as well.
9. The Heartbreak Chef
Address: 823 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1V4
Phone: 437-214-0717
Trying to cut down on red meat consumption but have a craving for burgers, then you should try The Heartbreak Chef’s chicken sandwiches.
Although they specializing in only conjuring chicken sandwiches, their food should not be taken too lightly as they are massive in size and have plenty of flavour.
When it comes to selections, there’s not many at The Heartbreak Chef as well. However, that’s okay! That could be a sign that the chef has each sandwich down to perfection and no need for additional variations.
If it’ll be your first time ordering from The Heartbreak Chef, then we recommend The Big Ass Chicken Sandwich to start. You get two flavourful chicken that is super crunchy – but still maintained the juicy tenderness, topped with spicy mayo, delicious homemade sweet and crunchy pickles, and creamy coleslaw.
If you haven’t been to The Heartbreak Chef yet, then you should add it to your list of best chicken sandwich restaurants to try.
10. PG Clucks
Address: 610 College St, Toronto, ON M6G 1B4
Phone: 416-539-8224
PG Clucks is another restaurant to hit up if you’re looking for some of the best chicken sandwiches Toronto has to offer.
PG Clucks is a small take-out joint with limited standing space – so, don’t expect any tables or stools for you to sit and enjoy your meal at their restaurant.
The sandwiches are made fresh so it could take some time for your order to be ready. However, the food is worth the wait! Once it’s ready, you’ll be in heaven when you take that first bite into their sandwiches.
Their chickens are cooked perfectly leaving them tender, juicy, and pipping hot. It’s also loaded with toppings so you get to enjoy the infused flavour created from the pickles, coleslaw, and the various sauces used by PG Clucks.
When it comes to selection, there’s not many to choose from – Classic (classic, spicy, jalapeño & honey) or Big Cluck. That should help simplify the process when making your decision. If you were to ask us, both are equally just as great, so why not try them both and see for yourself.
If you go with the spicy option, just be careful as it’s very spicy. So, unless you can take the spicy heat, you may want to reconsider before you make that choice. Although it’s spicy, it’s still enjoyable – but you might have to reach for your drink every so often to subdue the spiciness.
Their sandwiches are reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. If you have room for more, go for the extra chicken at a small added cost.
