Bountiful bowls of hearty noodles, special fried rice, and Peking duck are incredibly delicious, but sometimes Chinese food is best enjoyed in crafted bite-sized packets like Dim Sum.
In case you’ve forgotten what dim sum is like, here is a quick refresher: dim sum is a staple food composed of Har Gow, Siu Mai, sticky rice, dumplings, and other small dishes, usually enjoyed alongside a hot pot of tea.
Although Markham and Richmond Hill are known for their excellent dim sum, Mississauga also has several great places to eat dim sum if you’re looking for a decent bite without having to leave Sauga.
The dim sum restaurants in the area fall into three categories: takeout shops selling boxes of dumplings and buns to-go, a handful of old-school spots still providing service through a roving cart, and upscale banquet halls where you can order through a massive menu.
As always, we got you covered on all fronts. So sit back, relax, and grab a pot of chrysanthemum tea, as we are about to satisfy your dim sum cravings.

1. Jade Dim Sum
Address: 2280 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Y 1Z4
Website: Not available
Few places indeed have done more to spread the dim sum gospel around Mississauga, and Dixie Road is no exception. The area may have several Chinese restaurants offering morning dim sum on their menu, but Jade Dim Sum is like no other.
Unlike other restaurants that often switch to a much broader Cantonese menu just before lunchtime, this classic restaurant is committed to all dim sum, ALL THE TIME. And that strong commitment pays off.
In this 80-seater restaurant, you’ll find the traditional dim sum and some splashier items garnished with dabs of caviar and squid ink. So, if you’re into classic authentic Chinese dishes, look no further.
In general, everything on Jade Dim Sum’s 100-plus item menu ranges from plain to impressive, including the talk of the town, their signature golf ball-sized Siu Mai. Frozen dim sum is also available for takeout, so you can enjoy the deliciousness anytime.
2. Summit Garden
Address: 3015 Winston Churchill Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5L 2V8
Website: https://summitgarden.com/
Once or twice a year, a new dim sum place appears in the Sauga area like a wild Pokemon, adding a bit of excitement to other static groups of competitors. However, we sometimes agree that nothing beats the classic, especially those still serving with push-around carts full of dim sum treats.
Established in 1998, Summit Garden is one of the best upscale dim sum places (with a heart, as they support many charities and organizations) you can find in town. Equipped with an elegant dining room, quick service (your bowl of Wonton Soup will never EVER run dry), and a banquet hall for wedding receptions, this restaurant truly showcases a clear star power.
Here you will find creative options like Snow Pea Sprouts Dumplings, Fried Eggplant with Shrimp Mousse, Deep Fried Crab Claw, and more.
However, we think the management should pay a little closer to the basics, such as the parking lot. Sehmi Sushi, a popular sushi restaurant in Mississauga, is located in the same plaza so it tends to get busier during peak hours such as brunch and dinner time. Other than that, everything is spectacular.
3. Zen Gardens
Address: 6980 Maritz Dr #6, Mississauga, ON L5W 1Z3
Website: https://kingsvegetarianfood.ca/canada-restaurants/zen-gardens-mississauga-ontario
There are dozens, if not hundreds, of dim sum places across the GTA where one can quickly go when the craving for this dish hits. However, when straightforward vegan dim sum inhalation is the goal, Zen Gardens are the locals’ first line of defense go-to. Why? Everything in this place is vegan!
Zen Gardens has been around for 13 years serving Asian Cuisine for vegetarians. For your dim sum fix, you can enjoy full of veggie things you can share with family and friends, like Veggie Har Gow, Crispy Carrot Puff, and Veggie Dumplings – all available in their dim sum menu.
Although their dining area is like a hotel conference venue, the guests here are different from your average diners. Come anytime, and you will be greeted with a wondrous (mostly Asian) ladies-who-lunch crowd all clutching their shopping bags, ready for a breakfast feast.
You might think vegan restaurants are for wealthy people, but nope, the menu here will not make your wallet cry.
4. Happy Dim Sum
Address: 680 Silver Creek Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5A 3Z1
Website: https://happydimsumbakery.wordpress.com/
Silver Creek Boulevard is full of huge establishments but nestled there is one little dim sum parlor known as Happy Dim Sum. This charming and budget-friendly restaurant may be smaller than your average hair salon, but the price and quality of their dishes are nearly unbeatable.
You’ll find a wide selection of cheap dim sums on their compact menu, plus it will be served fresh and hot straight from their tiny kitchen. Frequent visitors love their Steamed Shrimp dumplings dipped in chili oil and Chao Chow Fried Cake.
Most customers order takeout or buy frozen dim sum to heat up at home. But if you’re not short on time, it would have been more fun if you could dine in and witness the action.
5. Magic BBQ & Seafood
Address: 660 Eglinton Ave W, Mississauga, ON L5R 3V2
Website: Not available
If you’re after an exclusive dim sum spot, we’ll have to admit right off the bat – Magic BBQ & Seafood is not strictly a dim sum place but generally a traditional Chinese restaurant. Much like Sam Woo BBQ, the restaurant that it has replaced, this one also offers traditional Cantonese food with a twist.
With its new management, Magic BBQ & Seafood is a more streamlined, slightly modernized version of the Sam Woo institution with larger tables, casual service, and shorter wait times. The customers seem to love these innovations, and the place is usually crowded at brunch time.
Though their dim sum isn’t that cheap, the spectacular menu of this dish is worth every penny. The Siu Mai is as plump as they come, the BBQ pork is perfectly textured, and the steamed dumpling bursts as you bite through its thin wrapper.
6. Emerald Chinese Restaurant
Address: 30 Eglinton Ave W, Mississauga, ON L5R 3E7
Website: Not available
Mississauga’s Emerald Chinese Restaurant is comparable to Celine Dion when it comes to dim sum. Because it has dominated for so long, locals already consider it to be standard. However, this three-decade-old Cantonese hotspot on Eglinton Ave. West., which invented renowned dim sum dishes, continues to do better than other Chinese eateries in the area.
However, Emerald does not have the most extensive nor cheapest menu, but we commend how their dim sum selections are filled with absolute bangers – Scallop Dumplings, Shrimp Rice Rolls, and Har Gow are winners on the list. And if you want to wrap your dinner with booze, they have an expansive menu of vodka, cocktail, and wine.
7. Tremendous Chinese Restaurant
Address: 3550 Wolfedale Rd, Mississauga, ON L5C 2V6
Website: Not available
We occasionally yearn to delve into a location providing copious amounts of dim sum after a long, exhausting week. Tremendous Chinese Restaurant is more than pleased to come to your aid when this craving strikes. The vast majority of customers at this restaurant prefer to have dim sum at any time of day despite the fact that practically all of the Cantonese cuisine on the menu is outstanding.
Happy guests love their Deep-fried Shrimp Dumplings. These little things are crunchy outside, with thicker, fluffy skins and flavourful, juicy shrimp filling. Plus, they find it very satisfying to eat and get through it with three bites (although we would love to see all customers eat the whole thing in their mouth at once!).
Kidding aside, Tremendous has many dim sum crown jewels, and it’s up to you to find out. After all, it’s a full-fledged restaurant, so feel free to order as much dim sum as you like.
